About Darryl Swenson

I am a private pilot and amateur photographer. I live in Friday Harbor, Washington. My airplane is a Flight Design CTLS and I keep it in a hangar in Friday Harbor. My flying has taken me up and down the West Coast USA. I am enchanted by the islands and mountains of the Pacific Northwest, and the allure of deserts and mountains of the Southwest keep drawing me back to the Four Corners area.

  1. Dear Darryl: I was wondering if the heavy smoke and smog last Sunday, which prevented at least one plane from landing at FHR, was considered an “emergency”. I couldn’t find any information on- line; there’s a Washington State Health web page but nothing referring to San Juan County. Several people I know at the senior center have been complaining of ill effects even after several days. Is this a topic that might be discussed in the future? Should there be an air-quality hotline or web page related to this county only? Although it was a rare occurrence here, it could happen again. what do you think? thank you, Nancy Lindenberg 378-6855

Thanks for your comment, Nancy. I will pass this around and pose the question to others in our group. Let’s see what comes of it. Darryl
