KFHR Construction Update – Oct 8

Hello all,

Taxiway Alpha is substantially complete! All exits and entries are now open. The new signs and lighting also look great! You will continue to see construction crews doing clean up and hydro-seeding over the next week and there may be very short closures of various areas as these final tasks are completed. Crews continue to work in the Leeward hangar area installing a new “half-pipe drain system which should alleviate some of the ‘ponding’ we experience there during heavy rains. We are continuing to work on the pilot-controlled-lighting system and hope to have it back online in the near future. Work at the Mullis Pond is also substantially complete and should also be ready to go very soon.

In the next week or so you will see work begin on the ramp south of the terminal building. A trench drain will be installed there to meet Department of Ecology regulations for de-icing operations. Eventually this will also serve as the airport’s wash rack for aircraft.

Thank you so much for your patience during this project. It has gone smoothly and we ended up with a great finished product. As always if you have questions, comments or concerns, please let me know.

Regards,
Dave
