KBVS Update – Week of Sept 17

Attached please find a construction update for the week of September 17 on the Skagit Regional Airport Runway 10-28 Improvement Project.

Check NOTAMs for current closure status.

Please note, as of 6:00 a.m. local time Monday, September 17, the taxi route from the airport terminal will be via Taxiway B (future TWY A1) to Taxiway G (future TWY B). Taxiway F (future TWY C) and the west 2,500 feet of Taxiway A will be closed at that time.  Future phases of the project will require a brief return to the long taxi, but the worst is now behind us. Thank you for your patience.

Also note, the contractor will be working up to the center line of Taxiway A at Taxiway C (future A2) for the next two weeks. This work will require a small detour for aircraft taxiing through the area. The area will be marked with lighted barricades. The alternative taxi route is shown on the attached drawing. Please use extra caution on Taxiway A during this time.

Pilots are advised to use caution when crossing the north end of Taxiway G (future TWY B) where construction traffic may be crossing aircraft movement areas. Construction traffic will yield to aircraft.

A safety meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, at the port administration building, 15400 Airport Drive, Burlington, WA.  Airport users and the public are welcome to attend.

Finally, please note that the Runway 10-28 designation will change to Runway 11-29 at completion of the project. The taxiway designations will become Taxiway A (existing), A1, A2, A3, A4; Taxiway B (formerly TWY G), B1, B2, B3; and Taxiway C (formerly TWY F). We will provide an updated airport diagram at the project conclusion. For now, we will provide the future designations in parentheses.
